~I liked the old paths, when
Moms were at home.
Dads were at work.
Brothers went into the army.
~And sisters got married BEFORE having children!
Crime did not pay;
Hard work did;
And people knew the difference.
~Moms could cook;
Dads would work;
Children would behave.
Husbands were loving;
Wives were supportive;
And children were polite.
~Women wore the jewelry;
And Men wore the pants.
Women looked like ladies;
Men looked like gentlemen;
And children looked decent.
~People loved the truth,
And hated a lie;
They came to church to get IN,
Not to get OUT!
~Hymns sounded Godly;
Sermons sounded helpful;
Rejoicing sounded normal;
And crying sounded sincere.
~Cursing was wicked;
Drugs were for illness;
And divorce was unthinkable.
~The flag was honored;
America was beautiful;
And God was welcome!
~We read the Bible in public;
Prayed in school;
And preached from house to house
To be called an American was worth dying for;
To be called a Christian was worth living for;
To be called a traitor was a shame!
~Preachers preached because they had a message;
And Christians rejoiced because they had the VICTORY!
Preachers preached from the Bible;
Singers sang from the heart;
And sinners turned to the Lord to be SAVED!
~A new birth meant a new life;
Salvation meant a changed life;
Following Christ led to eternal life.
~Being a preacher meant you proclaimed the word of God;
Being a deacon meant you would serve the Lord;
Being a Christian meant you would live for Jesus;
And being a sinner meant someone was praying for you!
~Laws were based on the Bible;
Homes read the Bible;
And churches taught the Bible.
~God was worshiped;
Christ was exalted;
And the Holy Spirit was respected.
~Church was where you found Christians
on the Lord's day, rather than in the garden,
on the creek bank, on the golf course,
Or being entertained somewhere else.
~I still like the old paths the best!

I don't mean to go all 'Little House on the Prarie' but, I found this randomly on choosingsimplicity.blogspot.com. And I liked it, so I'm going to share it with all 3 of you who actually look at this blog.

Angels and Demons;)
Caden fell asleep on Haloween night with this glow stick necklace on. The flash takes away some of the effect. Looking into his room he looked like an angel with a fallen halo. I carefully disconnected the necklace before I went to bed, but couldn't resist snapping a picture before I did. He stirred, but was too exhausted from fighting with Ryan and I over weather he would wear a jacket trick or treating. It was raining and cold. Sadly, Caden likes to learn things the hard way, so I let him go out in just his costume. He didn't make it to one house before he asked for the jacket I carefully hid under my coat.
Logan loves to dress up in whatever random stuff he can find. This robe is a favorite. He turns into whatever FBI, Star Wars, Super Hero or combination of all of these he can think to be. Every teacher he has ever had mentions this kids active imagination.

Hot Fudge
Per Request...
2 cups sugar
3 Tablespoonful Cocoa
1 cup evaporated milk
1/2 cup butter
1 tsp Vanilla
Heat the sugar and cocoa in your pan (I never do this because I tend to get distracted and burn it). Melt in butter and add milk while stirring frequently. Boil for 2 minutes. Remove from heat. Add vanilla. Pour over ice cream, or put in a mug and drink it. Sauce will be thin, but thickens as it cools.
This makes me want hot fudge.

Principal's Pride 2010
Logan was one of 2 kids chosen by his 2nd grade teacher, Miss Richards, to receive the Principal's Pride award. His teacher wrote a cute poem about Logan and he was honored at the end of the year assembly. Only Ryan could go to the assembly because Caden was sick. Miss Richards said that Logan was cute, creative and imaginative.

Bring Me 2 Pina Coladas...I want one for each hand.
I left up that last post for FAR too long...so here are a few pictures from a warmer place. We went to Puerto Vallarta in January with Ryan's Mom. It was lovely. We didn't even get kidnapped! (Avoid Juarez, Mexico) The sunsets were beautiful and Grandma D. was happy to get a pina colada anytime! (Of course they were virgin pina coladas or when in Mexico...do as the Mexicans do;)
